Terms

Using Blacklight means agreeing to these. They are short and written to be read, because a rule nobody reads cannot be followed.

What Blacklight is, and is not

Blacklight is a shared record of scam reports for the Roblox development community, operated by Whimco. Reports are written by community members and reviewed by moderators.

A listing here is not a determination of fact, not a legal finding, and not a Roblox moderation action. It carries no weight on the Roblox platform. It is a record that somebody made an accusation, that a moderator found it credible enough to publish, and that the accused had a chance to answer. Treat it as a reason to be careful, not as proof.

Blacklight is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Roblox Corporation or Discord Inc.

Your account

You need a Roblox or Discord account to file a report or add to a thread. Reading the record needs no account at all.

You are responsible for what is posted from your account. Do not create alternate accounts to file the same report twice, to corroborate your own report, or to get around a moderator decision. Doing so is the fastest way to lose access.

What you may file

A firsthand account of something that happened to you, with evidence. Say what was agreed, what was delivered, what was paid, and what went wrong, in enough detail that a stranger can follow it.

If it happened to someone else, it is not your report to file. Point them here instead. If you experienced the same conduct from the same person as an existing report, that is a corroboration, which is a written firsthand account attached to that report, one per account.

What is not allowed

  • Knowingly false or exaggerated reports. This is the one that gets a permanent ban, because a registry that carries false reports is worse than no registry.
  • Off-platform personal information. No real names, addresses, phone numbers, schools, workplaces, family members, or photographs of a person. Roblox and Discord account identifiers only.
  • Fabricated or edited evidence. Including screenshots altered to change what was said, and messages sent from an account you control in order to screenshot them.
  • Threats, harassment, or calls to brigade. Do not tell anyone to mass-report, raid, or contact the accused. The record is the remedy.
  • Disputes that are not scams. Creative disagreements, someone being rude, someone leaving a team, or a deal you regret are not reports.
  • Sexual content, or any allegation involving a minor. These belong with Roblox Safety and with law enforcement, not on a community board. Report them there.

Evidence

Up to 6 images per report. Unedited screenshots showing the agreement, the payment or lack of it, and the conduct being described. Crop for length if you must, but do not crop to change meaning.

Video and other links go in the report body as a URL. Uploading someone else's private information as evidence is still prohibited even when it proves your point.

Moderation

Every report and every corroboration waits for a moderator before it is visible to anyone. Moderators decide whether a report is published and which tier it carries. Tiers are assigned by moderators, never by popular opinion.

There is no voting. No upvotes and no downvotes, deliberately. A downvote buries a true report, an upvote promotes a false one, and either would make a moderator-assigned tier look crowd-sourced. The only way to add weight to a report is to write a corroboration of your own experience, which is queued like everything else.

Limits are 3 reports and 20 replies per account per day.

If you are the one named

Sign in with the account the report names, either Roblox or Discord. The site matches the ID the provider gives back against the report, so proving it is you takes nothing more than signing in.

Your reply posts immediately without waiting in the queue, and pins above every other reply. Holding an answer for review while the accusation stays live is not defensible, so the site does not do it.

If a report is factually wrong, reply with what contradicts it, or write to the address below. Moderators remove reports that do not hold up. Settling the debt is also grounds for a report to be marked resolved, and moderators will ask the reporter to confirm.

Corrections and removals

Anyone, named or not, can write to the address below to ask for a correction or a removal. Say which report and what specifically is wrong. Requests to remove a report simply because it is unflattering will not succeed; requests that show a report is inaccurate, that evidence exposes more than it needed to, or that a matter has been settled, will be acted on.

Suspension and termination

Access can be suspended or removed for breaking these terms, with filing a knowingly false report and using alternate accounts to manipulate the record being the clearest cases. Content already published may be removed at the same time.

No warranty

Blacklight is provided as-is, with no guarantee of accuracy, availability, or fitness for any purpose. Reports are community submissions. Verify anything that matters to you before acting on it, and make your own decisions about who you work with. To the fullest extent the law allows, Whimco is not liable for losses arising from reliance on anything published here.

Changes and contact

Material changes will be noted by the date at the top, and continuing to use the site means accepting them. Everything above goes to admin@whimco.com.

Tier definitions and the review process in detail are in how Blacklight works. What is stored about you is in privacy.
